Think about the things that you’ve -consciously or unconsciously- intersected in your life.

Think about the things you’ve done, are doing, or want to do that have an authentic relationship with your personality/essence. For that, I’d recommend to grab the good ol’ pencil and paper and create a list with the things you like to do. After that, write a list about the things that you would like to learn and/or would like to continue learning:

After doing both lists, think about ways you could combine the activities of your first list to continue learning any of the things on your second list.

During this exercise, pay close attention to the events and experiences around this point in your life and try to think on ways to complement your idea

The end purpose for this is to come closer to our authentic self by combining the compatible things of our lists and thus creating things that maximize the growth of your essence in this present time.

My appreciation for the intersection of things was born the day I realized that I wanted to experiment with the combination of my drawings and photography. The way this naturally came to mind was through the idea of wanting to gift a photo print to three of my friends. The photo, as you may have guessed, included their presence sitting on a cement handrail at a park in Mexico City. After printing the photo with a type of paper that I used to draw on, the thought of drawing on top of it was almost an automatic one.

After looking at this first beautiful combination of photography and drawing, I started looking for other photos where I could draw on and so I did a couple more. This experience filled me with inspiration and led me to think about the potential of this mixed media. After more iterations and thinking of ways to make this process better, I decided to go digital and bought my first drawing tablet. Since then, drawing on my photography has been an ever-growing journey that continues to challenge me as I go and experiment more with it.

Everything is connected if we look close enough.

Piensa en las cosas que te has cruzado (consciente o inconscientemente) en tu vida.

Piensa en las cosas que has hecho, estás haciendo o quieres hacer que tienen una relación auténtica con tu personalidad/esencia. Recomiendo tomar el lápiz y papel buenos y crear una lista con las cosas que te gusta hacer. Después de eso, escriba una lista sobre las cosas que le gustaría aprender y/o le gustaría seguir aprendiendo:

Después de hacer ambas listas, piense en las formas en que podría combinar las actividades de su primera lista para continuar aprendiendo cualquiera de las cosas en su segunda lista.

Durante este ejercicio, preste mucha atención a los eventos y experiencias en torno a este punto de su vida y trate de pensar en formas de complementar su idea.

El objetivo final de esto es acercarnos a nuestro ser auténtico combinando las cosas compatibles de nuestras listas y creando así cosas que maximicen el crecimiento de su esencia en este momento presente.

Mi aprecio por la intersección de las cosas nació el día en que me di cuenta de que quería experimentar con la combinación de mis dibujos y fotografía. La forma natural en que esto vino a mi mente fue a través de la idea de querer regalar una impresión fotográfica a tres de mis amigos. La foto, como habrás adivinado, incluía su presencia sentada en una barandilla de cemento en un parque en la Ciudad de México. Después de imprimir la foto con un tipo de papel en el que solía dibujar, la idea de dibujar encima era casi automática.

Después de mirar esta primera combinación hermosa de fotografía y dibujo, comencé a buscar otras fotos en las que pudiera dibujar y así hice un par más. Esta experiencia me llenó de inspiración y me llevó a pensar en el potencial de esta técnica mixta. Después de más iteraciones y pensando en formas de mejorar este proceso, decidí digitalizarme y compré mi primera tableta de dibujo. Desde entonces, dibujar en mi fotografía ha sido un viaje cada vez mayor que continúa desafiándome a medida que avanzo y experimento más con él.

Todo está conectado si miramos lo suficientemente cerca.
