We call “veins” the vines of our bodies.
We were given various root systems that have a different languages and functions.
Our brain is electricity; our hearts, magnetic fields.

Hearts that distribute hemoglobin molecules powered by atoms of iron at their core. The iron that was born from Supernovas and Supermassive Stars; explosions of energy that were the consequence of galactic collisions; collisions that were caused by this gravitational structure that pulls the galaxies together through a root formation by the name of “Laniakea”.

We are Nature.

We exist because, in our really distant past, there were single-celled organisms called cyanobacteria that were able to convert, through billions of years, all the carbon dioxide of a planet to oxygen; which also billions of years after, as the accumulation of oxygen steadily increased, it got to a point where it enabled the formation of an ozone layer.

Fast forward to now, where we’re able to exist, where we breathe out food for plants and they reciprocate it by turning that into -some good ol’ human-friendly- oxygen. That means that we own half a lung. And that also means that by doing harm to nature, we do harm to us.

Our nature is as complex as the universe. We are the culmination of collisions, explosions, evolution, history and collective growth.

However, tragedy starts when we lose our ability to recognize ourselves as a part -and offspring- of this nature. Misery starts when we seek only with eyes of avarice.

We stray away from our source when we don’t include it into the equation of our day-to-day actions.
We prioritize productivity over our health (in every applicable sense of the word).
We accept the use of harmful synthetic chemicals in the manufacturing process of the products we buy.
We justify the contamination of convenience.
We’ve taken for granted our available resources.

The majority of the things that we interact with don’t look natural anymore.

When we think and talk about nature nowadays, one of the most popular things that come to mind is the damage we’ve done to it. And we do that because both the frequency and relevance of the information we consume about our mother earth oftentimes leans towards the negative impact of our daily acts. And in the majority of the cases, myself included; we acknowledge it, we feel a negative emotion, we indulge in it, sometimes we share it and/or put a comment, and then we resume our day with a bad aftertaste.

That’s the reason I’m writing this blog post.

Because like you, I also want to stop falling into that vicious cycle and actually do something about it. But also, like you, I don’t want to either just continue with my earth-conscious practices or suddenly put everything aside from one day to the next and dedicate my entire life to the cause.

So then this question comes:
What would be a creative way to pair this cause with what we currently know and love to do?

I’m all in for a good brainstorm. Go for it and let me know.

After recognizing the tragedy upon us, we act. After crying about it, we use our power to overcome it by thinking of creative solutions.

Llamamos “venas” a la vid de nuestros cuerpos. Se nos dieron varios sistemas de raíz con sus diferentes lenguajes y funciones. Nuestro cerebro es electricidad; Nuestros corazones, campos magnéticos.

Corazones que distribuyen moléculas de hemoglobina impulsadas por átomos de hierro en su núcleo. El hierro que nació de Supernovas y Estrellas masivas; explosiones de energía que fueron consecuencia de colisiones galácticas; colisiones causadas por esta estructura gravitacional que une a las galaxias a través de una formación de raíces con el nombre de “Laniakea”.

Somos naturaleza.

Existimos porque, en nuestro pasado inimaginablemente distante, había organismos unicelulares llamados cianobacterias que pudieron convertir, a través de miles de millones de años, todo el dióxido de carbono de un planeta en oxígeno; que también miles de millones de años después, a medida que la acumulación de oxígeno aumentaba constantemente, llegó a un punto en el que se permitió la formación de una capa de ozono.

Avanzamos hasta ahora, donde podemos existir, donde exhalamos alimentos para las plantas y ellas lo reciproquen convirtiéndolo en oxígeno. Eso significa que poseemos medio pulmón. Y eso se traduce a que al hacer daño a la naturaleza, nos hacemos daño a nosotros.

Nuestra naturaleza es tan compleja como el universo. Somos la culminación de colisiones, explosiones, evolución, historia y crecimiento colectivo.

Sin embargo, la tragedia comienza cuando perdemos nuestra capacidad de reconocernos a nosotros mismos como parte –y descendientes- de esta naturaleza. La miseria comienza cuando nos limitamos a ver con ojos de avaricia.

Nos desviamos de nuestra fuente cuando no la incluimos en la ecuación de nuestras acciones cotidianas.
Priorizamos la productividad sobre nuestra salud (en todos los sentidos aplicables de la palabra).
Aceptamos el uso de productos químicos sintéticos nocivos en el proceso de fabricación de los productos que compramos.
Justificamos la contaminación de la conveniencia.
Hemos dado por sentado nuestros recursos disponibles.

La mayoría de las cosas con las que interactuamos ya no se ven naturales.

Cuando pensamos y hablamos sobre la naturaleza hoy en día, una de las cosas más populares que se nos vienen a la mente es el daño que le hemos hecho. Esto porque la frecuencia y la relevancia de la información que consumimos sobre nuestra madre tierra tiende a inclinarse hacia el impacto negativo de nuestros actos diarios. Y en la mayoría de los casos, yo mismo incluido; lo reconocemos, sentimos una emoción negativa, nos entregamos, a veces lo compartimos y / o hacemos un comentario, y luego reanudamos nuestro día con un mal sabor de boca.

Esa es la razón por la que estoy escribiendo esto.

Porque como tú, también quiero dejar de caer en ese círculo vicioso y hacer algo al respecto. Pero también, como tú, no sólo quiero continuar con mis prácticas conscientes de la tierra o de un día para otro dejar de lado todo y dedicar toda mi vida a la causa.

Entonces viene esta pregunta:

¿Cuál sería una forma creativa de vincular esta causa con lo que actualmente sabemos y amamos hacer?

Después de reconocer la tragedia sobre nosotros, actuamos. Después de llorar al respecto, usamos nuestro poder para superarlo y pensar en soluciones creativas.
