6 Creative Exercises to Nurture Awareness

As our experience has shown; learning, sharing, and being conscious about our creative exercises has been such a healthy habit for our mental processes & overall well-being.

That said, the intention of this blog post is to share our current creative practices to both expand on our present process and reciprocate inspiration, & to better document -and nurture- these practices in a useful manner.

This is the second part of the previous blog post titled: “Awareness in the Creative Process” , so we invite you to take that one in mind while reading this. (+ there’s another beautiful creative exercise that it’s not in here)

We hope these exercises inspire your creative expansion.
We’re also always open to make this a collaborative process, so reach out whenever <3

1. Power of Intersection

This exercise is what I like to imagine as taking our mental deck - the contents of our mind, thoughts, memory, education, values, philosophies, mindset, beliefs, agreements, opinions, plans, intentions, etc. - and shuffling and thinking about them in different configurations. Through that practice of psychological deconstruction one would then be able to either ideate a more free/authentic form of expression, or to let go from past agreements, heal, and grow closer to one’s essence of flow.

  • connecting ideas, thoughts; the dots
  • taking an introspective dive
  • deconstructing psyche
  • re-organizing of ideas
  • opportunity for new forms of expression to form

2. Power Walks

With a notebook or/and a recorder in hand, taking a walk with a certain theme/intention -even with the intention of being completely open- makes such a great foundation for making it a meditative exploration.

  • cleans thought
  • processes processes
  • dissolves numbness, nurtures clarity
  • medicine for the body & mind

3. Aiding the Dream State

Although this is a new practice for us, writing our dreams right before waking up will bring out aspects of the mind that we might not be aware of in the waking state. For this to work one also ought to respect our sleep-cycle as the dream depends on a healthy circadian rhythm

  • exploration of the unconscious state
  • promotion of a healthy brain
  • conscious creative incubation

4. Journaling Reflections & Realizations

As most of the time, the brain needs to go through conscious practice & repetition to change its ways of operating/decoding the world around it. That said, taking note of the experiences we’re living through and extending them into written reflections is such a useful way to integrate relevant lessons into our day-to-day life. The way it has worked for us has been to adopt the habit of carrying a small notebook around and filling it as we go. We have found it helpful to include the beginning/ending dates (& number them) as that makes it easier to collect and organize.

On a side note, blog posts are also an amazing tool as they let us organize our thoughts in a clearer way and in a more accessible format (thank you bookmarks and note-making apps)

  • written memory for better integration
  • process-enhancer/better integration
  • nostalgic gift to self (it’s beautiful to witness the process and to be reminded of our growth)
  • facilitates intersectionality
  • nurtures intention and clarity

5. Creative Sessions

Individually or collectively, we invite you to make a whole ritual out of it. Light up incense, put proper background music (here’s two of our Spotify Playlists: Jam-Trip, Temeneren), organize the space, prepare healthy snacks, make sure you have hydration nearby, start with a centering (breathing) meditation, put out any source of distractions, write starting intentions; make yourself as comfortable as you possibly can.

  • setting & talking intentions
  • note-taking / drawing / intentional creation
  • reflecting on realizations
  • asking expansive questions
  • letting the mind run, meditative brainstorm
  • entering a creative flow

6. Meditation = Medication

This final subtopic will be explored in next week’s blog post as we’ll be also sharing the meditations that came up from writing this post.

  • refreshes intention & attention
  • centers & heals the mind
  • develops unconditionality
  • + more <3

And as Always, Welcome back -unconditionally- to this healing awareness.
